Oswego East Football has started strong with three consecutive wins and will host Joliet Central on Sept. 19, aiming to continue their streak. Joliet Central, currently 1-2, is looking to recover from a 55-6 loss to Plainfield East. This is East’s first home game, and it’s Senior Night, so everyone is encouraged to wear red!

Junior Greyson Hohimer, the East starting center, highlights the importance of balancing celebrating the win and preparing for their next matchup.

“Every week we tell ourselves that we’re zero and zero and we try to get that 1-0 the next game. So we basically just try to celebrate over the weekend and get back to work.” Hohimer said.

Last game, Oswego East running back Jasiah Watson led both teams with 139 rushing yards and a 59-yard touchdown. Wide receivers Mason Davis and Jamari Mckay both reeled in touchdowns as well. The East defense also had an impressive showing, allowing only 9 points.

“The coaches always ask for perfection, and we’re here to give it to them. They always look for the best in us, and we just try to give it the best we can.” Hohimer added.

Not only will this be an exciting matchup on the field, but it’s also gearing up to be an important night for the community as their first home game.

The Oswego East Marching Wolves will start with some pre-game pep tunes, such as “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé and the Star Wars theme, as the teams take the field. After every touchdown, the marching band will emphasize the moment with the OEHS Fight Song.

Senior Graceie Kornelik, flute section leader, is looking forward to giving the fans a good show for the team’s first home bout.

“I think that we are doing really good. Rexroat [East Band director] said that this is the best first performance we have ever had. We are really strong,” Kornelik said.

At halftime, the marching band will perform Hydrosonic, a water-based show with 4 movements: Ecstatic Waters, The River, Make Our Garden Grow, and Blue Shades. Along with the marching band, the East cheer and dance team will be performing at halftime as well.

The varsity game starts at 7 p.m..You must have your student I.D to enter the student section.
