The Oswego East Girls flag football team has had a positive first half of their season, especially since this is the first year flag has been integrated in high school sports.

The Wolves are currently sitting at 10-4 this season. Head coach Ryan Clifford claims the girls are a well-rounded team and has strong faith in his athletes.

“We took the best of the best athletes who excel in numerous sports, such as Avayah Turner, who is a multiple-event state qualifier for track, and Brianna Lill, who was a previous libero for the East volleyball team,” Clifford said. “Our team is the real deal, the culture the team possesses is unreal; the offensive chemistry is strong,” Clifford said.

Quarterback Danielle Stone has great vision, consistently hitting her receivers, whether it’s a wide-open or highly covered pass; the receiver always tends to come down with the ball, and her talent doesn’t just stop on the offensive side of the ball.

The East defense only gives up an average of 6.3 points a game. During their hard-earned win against Bolingbrook, defensive athlete Macy Dyck had an interception for six, highlighting the coaching and discipline their team possesses.

Outside linebacker Bethanie Norman claims that flag has been an awesome experience so far.

“I still have one year left. The seniors have done a great job leading the team, hyping up the crowd, and the team supporting both sides of the ball. We are one step closer to claiming conference each and every time we step on the field,” Norman said

East is currently undefeated in the Southwest Prairie Conference with a record of 3-o. East plays at home for the highly anticipated Crosstown game tonight at 6 p.m. Come out and see the Wolves play for a potential conference title.
