The rivalry between the Wolves and Panthers is always an exciting showdown, and this year’s crosstown game on Oct. 17, 7:00 p.m., appears no different. Oswego East Football (Wolves) enters the season with a 6-1 record, and Oswego Football (Panthers) comes in with a 5-2 record.
The Panthers have come out on top in the last two matchups against the Wolves. East senior and starting varsity defensive tackle Jason Reed, who has played against the Panthers for the last three years, explains how East prepares to take on their rival.
“We focus on what they did to us in previous years. We also look at their personnel and adjust. We’re more determined this time because we got the better record and because we want some payback for the last couple of years, ” Reed said.
East senior Ja’Veyon Davis has only watched a couple of games this season, but feels optimistic about the outcome of the crosstown game.
“Our school has been doing great so far, having only lost one game while having six wins. I’m confident that we can continue our momentum and get the win,” Davis said.
East fans planning to attend the game will only be allowed on the visitor side. Parking will be available on both sides of Oswego High School. There will be a shuttle from East to Oswego that will begin at 4:00 p.m. and will run continuously between the two schools throughout the evening. Visitors will also have access to restrooms on the visitor side and food and drinks from Chick-fil-a, Mi Koniza, and regular concessions.
