East Boys basketball is hosting tryouts on Monday, Nov. 10 and Tuesday Nov. 11. Tryouts will take place in both the main gym and the K gym at Oswego East from 3-5:30 P.M.

Tryouts are open to students of all experience levels. The team is looking for athletes who are ready to work and be team players.

Patrick Molanari, a varsity basketball coach, is more than excited for this year’s basketball season. Starting the season off with the best players possible is very important. Not only physically strong players, but also ones with the best mentality.

“Their character is a big part of the equation. We want to have young men in our program that understand how important character is,” Molanari said.

Three year varsity starter, senior Mason Lockett is very excited for tryouts this year. He can’t wait to see the new talent the juniors will bring to the varsity team.

“We are looking for the incoming varsity players who may not start every game to be ready to be team guys. They need to know that if they aren’t starting a lot this year, they can still contribute to the team by helping starters improve every week”. Lockett said.

Two year East basketball player, junior Noah Yu, is excited to be entering his first year on varsity. Yu knows that he may not start this year because of returning players in his position, but he is still very excited to be able to contribute to making the team better every week.

“I’m excited to help the guys prepare, especially because we always play good opponents. I’m looking forward to assisting the starters and bringing some energy off the bench,” Yu said.

Any interested players should register on oswegoeast.8to18.com prior to tryouts. Potential players also need a current physical on file in the athletic office to be eligible.
