As the biggest sporting event in America nears, anticipation and hype only grow. Fans around the world wait anxiously for the 2015 Super Bowl rematch between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
With the game being played at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, Home of the 49ers, temperatures in the 60s can be expected-perfect football weather. However, that weather could prove a problem for the two teams, given that they play in New England and Seattle, respectively, and are much more used to colder conditions around this time of year.
Perry Jonkheer, East junior, is confident in his pick for the Super Bowl, given what he’s seen from the two teams thus far this season.
“Seattle is winning for sure. They’ve actually beaten real competition this year, unlike the Patriots, who had the easiest schedule in the League,” Jonkheer said
While it is true that the Patriots were given a better hand than most teams, many people still believe that they can put up a better fight than most think off the back of MVP caliber quarterback, Drake Maye.
East junior Angel Gonzalez is part of this group, believing that the Patriots are a little bit slept on just due to their schedule.
“I still think the Seahawks are gonna win, but I don’t think it’s as close as people think. Drake Maye could still carry them to a win with an elite performance,” Gonzalez said
While this is an exciting matchup, some fans wish previous games ended differently, yet will still tune in and enjoy the Super Bowl the best they can.
Julia Robb, a freshman at East, has been watching each game so far and is a prime example of this, being disappointed with the Bears losing, but will watch till the end.
“I’m pretty bummed it’s not my team going to the Super Bowl, but I’m excited to see how it plays out anyway,” Robb said
Some fans have strong opinions and clear favorites, while others are just hoping for a close and exciting matchup. No matter who they’re rooting form most people simply want a good game, and let’s hope this Super Bowl delivers.
