NFL Combine predicts the future of the NFL

As the NFL combine has just come to an end, there is a lot to talk about. With many records broken and some big numbers put up, the athletes in this class were amazing .

To start things off, the NFL combine is an invitational 4-day event that is located in Indianapolis, and has been since 1987. The combine allows college prospects to showcase their talents through a series of events, such as a 40-yard dash, Bench press, Vertical jump, Broad jump, 3-cone drill, and position-specific drills. This combine helps players be better evaluated in front of every NFL Coach before the draft.

Invitations are selected very carefully. There is a niche number of athletes added to this list. The number totals are usually something that people don’t realize.

Quarterback (QB): ~15-20

Running Back (RB): ~25-30

Wide Receiver (WR): ~40-45

Tight End (TE): ~15-20

Offensive Line (OL – T/G/C): ~50-60

Defensive Line (DL – DT/DE): ~50-60

Linebacker (LB): ~30-35

Cornerback (CB): ~30-35

Safety (S): ~20-25

Specialists (K/P/LS): ~5-10

There are a couple of key athletes to cover. With records broken and extreme athleticism, there are two people who need to be highlighted.

At the quarterback position, highlighted by Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, there were lots of records set. Green set 3 records with a 4.36-second 40-yard dash, a 43½-inch vertical, and an 11-2 broad jump. These times were all the best from a quarterback ever.

Tight ends are typically big guys, there to block for the offense. This is not the case for Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq. He is an athlete!! Sadiq set the all-time NFL Combine record for tight ends with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash. At 6’3″, 245 lbs, he also recorded a 43.5-inch vertical (2nd best) and 11’1″ broad jump. This crazy athleticism is something for NFL fans to look forward to.

With an amazing draft class and extreme athletes, NFL fans need to be excited!
