Baked French Toast

Easy, delicious Mother’s Day breakfast. Makes 6 servings.

Ingredients

French Toast
  • 8 Eggs
  • 2 C Milk
  • 1/2 C Heavy cream
  • 1/4 C Sugar
  • 1/2 C Brown sugar
  • 1 t Vanilla extract
  • 2 t Cinnamon
  • 1/4 t Nutmeg
  • 1 loaf French bread
Streusel Topping
  • 1/2 C Flour
  • 1/2 C Brown sugar
  • 1 t Cinnamon
  • 1/4 t Salt
  • 1/2 C Butter, unsalted and cubed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° and grease a 9×13 pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Slice the bread into 1 inch cubes and toss the cubes in the egg mixture until all the liquid is absorbed
  4. For the streusel topping: In a small bowl, stir together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the butter with a fork until crumbly.
  5. Pour the bread and egg mixture into the prepared pan and cover evenly with the streusel topping. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
