Although Taylor claims many number one spots, most highschool students’ top genre was rap, influenced by artists like Drake who topped Junior Dylan Baker’s Wrapped. Drake makes top 5 appearances in VanMeter, Woods, and Hatch’s Wrapped as well as his new album made him a popular artist this year.
To thank their fans artists also record video messages that play for their top listeners to make it more personal. Based on top artists and top songs, Spotify creates playlists just for the users to allow them to look back on their year in music and listen to a mix of some of their favorite songs.
Spotify started making Wrappeds in 2016 and since then have grown in popularity as users will post their results on social media and compare their results to others. The increase of Spotify Wrappeds presence on social media has led to an excitement around it as people wait all year to see the summary of their listening habits.
Now that the 2023 Spotify Wrapped has been released, people will start new listening habits and wait until the end of Nov. 2024 to once again see how their music taste changed that year.
