Starting on Dec. 15th, senior students at East will be taking their last midterm of high school.

Every grade level takes a final/midterm test but for seniors, the midterm will be their last one they ever take, as they will be done with their senior year a week before the final tests are for second semester.

Students have varying levels of stress for the midterms. Many of them will need to do well on these midterms as their grade depends on this test. It could either raise their grade up a letter or drop it down a letter.

Senior Logan South needs to do well on his math midterm to keep his grade where it’s at.

“My math midterm might affect [final grade] that because my grades are kind of on the edge of being like, higher or lower,” South said.

For other students, these final grades don’t matter much to them because they have already been accepted into the college of their choice. Senior Aidan Aguilera, is committed to Morton College to play baseball for the next 2 years.

“The midterms don’t really affect anything related to college for me. Already being committed is a big help because I don’t have to stress about my midterms as much. Also getting money for athletics is a big part of it because I don’t have to rely on only academic scholarships and that makes midterms a lot less stressful”.

Some seniors at East are very confident about their finals and their final grade come winter break.

“I’m very confident . I’m gonna get the job done, and get the A’s that I need and i’m gonna go into break happy,” Richards said.

Students compared last year’s midterm to this year’s upcoming midterm and the struggles that they have endured during the semester.

“Yeah the midterms last year were a little of what I expected just because I studied a lot to get prepared for them, I’m interested to see how the midterms are this semester,” Richards said.

The midterm being done definitely takes some pressure off of some shoulders and some students are just ready to be done for the semester. The seniors are gonna reflect on their past midterms and be glad its over.
