East offers a wide variety of food for lunch, but how do students really feel? Last school year, lunch at East received a big makeover. They upgraded their menu and the design of the lunch room, making it a better experience for students. Even with these upgrades, students still have mixed opinions on the quality and variety of the lunches offered.

Junior Brayden Felice has a positive outlook on East’s school lunches.

“For school lunch, it’s not bad, I like that there’s a wide variety of items to choose from every day, but I typically go with the pizza,” Felice said.

It is a big debate at East on whether the school lunch is good or bad. This is important because a good meal can positively affect a student’s day. When students get to enjoy a good lunch, it helps with focus and concentration throughout the school day. It can also help students build connections with other students by providing possible conversation topics and help people make friends at lunch.

A good lunch can encourage students in a multitude of ways. Sawyer Lustrup, a sophomore at East, expresses his view on lunch.

“I am a big fan of the chicken sandwiches. Both the spicy and regular. It gives me something to look forward to during the day,” Lustrup said.

Lustrup enjoys more than just the food during his lunch period; this period is spent recharging and spending time with his friends before continuing his school day.

Although many enjoy lunch at East, some have different opinions about school lunches.

Max Kaylor, a sophomore at East, doesn’t get lunch from school because he doesn’t like what is offered.

“I prefer bringing lunch because I like how I make my own sandwiches,” Kaylor said.

There are even some who choose not to eat lunch at all due to a preferred schedule they stick by. Some believe their lunch periods are too late in the day to be able to enjoy a lunch at school, while others don’t even have a lunch period and instead leave school earlier in the day.

Sophomore Jaylah Davis prefers to wait until she gets home from school to eat.

“I don’t even eat lunch at school because I have it during seventh period, so I just wait to get home before I eat,” Davis said.

Overall, students at East have varying opinions on school lunch. While many students enjoy it, others choose not to get school lunch. There are definitely improvements being made year after year, but as time goes on, school lunch will continue to get better, boosting student morale.
