As winter weather is upon Illinois, student’s fashion adapts to it. Some wear coats, some wear hoodies, and some people just wear t-shirts. Other than what people typically wear, what makes a winter outfit unique?
Senior Alex Lass explains what he wears during the winter time and why.
“I usually wear a coat during the wintertime to stay warm. It’s the best thing to wear because it covers most of your body to stay warm,” Lass said.
As the temperature gets colder outside, students are bound to bundle up, and we can expect to see more layers and patterned clothing to protect from the harsh winter weather.
A popular piece you can see students wearing throughout the past few years has been Ugg. Although Ugg boots were very popular back in the 2010s and they have come a long way since then. Now, students at East wear Ugg boots in different styles around the fall time and winter time.
Senior Isabella Bruton tells us what her favorite kind of Ugg boots is to wear in the winter.
“I usually wear sweats with a nicer top and a hoodie to be comfortable with my Uggs. The Tasman Ugg boots are my favorite,” Bruton said.
Senior Cara Mayfield tells us what her style is during the winter and how it differs from other seasons.
“I love to wear any type of sherpa and foldover flare leggings because they are comfortable but still look nice. I dress more catered to the weather as opposed to style-wise. I care more about my comfort, especially during the winter,” Mayfield said.
In high school especially, there is a stigma on wearing big coats into school, as most students find it embarrassing. But when push comes to shove, the only way to stay warm and cozy during the winter is to wear a coat as it also helps avoid sickness. Students often wear clothing like hoodies, crewnecks, or zip-ups instead of a coat.
Overall, students are well prepared for the winter and we hope everyone at East stays warm!
