I watched the Netflix series about the Menendez brothers. To be honest, I didn’t really care for it. The beginning of the show confused me. Right from the start you are thrown into all of their family issues. Their problems with each other. Their court battle. I was trying to follow along.
The show has a lot of drama. Too much. There are constant people yelling, crying, and fighting. It seems like almost every episode is basically the same. At first, it felt so serious. Then it just feels loud. A lot of scenes drag on for way too long and nothing really ever changes.
I think some episodes are even slower than others. They constantly show you the same flashbacks. Flashback after flashback. I have seen this before. I have understood what happened. However, they continue to show it to you again and again. This makes the series seem longer than it needs to be. Sometimes I get bored.
I found it difficult to separate the truth from what the show was making up. The show never explains what is factual and what is made-up for entertainment purposes. Therefore, if you don’t already know the Menendez case, things can become confusing quickly. I often had no idea what was going on.
I thought the courtroom scenes were bad. That is ironic since the trial is literally the premise of the entire series. The courtroom scenes barely discuss any of the evidence or legal aspects of the trial. Instead, they focus on emotions. Due to this, I did not really understand the case by the end.
In general, the show is attempting to portray itself as serious; however, it does far too many things at once. Overall, I found it to be disorganized, dragging, and confusing.
