East’s cheerleading program has an entirely new coaching staff for the 2026-2027 season. Four new coaches have been welcomed into the program, creating a big change for the athletes. 

The team was previously coached by Emily Clements and Katie Finin, who stepped down due to personal reasons after the 2025-2026 season. In their places, East hired head coach Grace Fiduccia as well as Caroline Walton, and Olivia Schramer. 

These new coaches entered the program with big plans, hopes, and expectations. With three out of four of them having cheered for East themselves, they wanted to see the program go back to what they remembered it to be.

Grace Fiduccia explains what her plans for the future are as head coach.

“My plans for the program are to really build a community and make sure that these kids are feeling like they’re a part of something, a part of a team where they can count on each other, and I feel like that is going to help our program grow,” Fiduccia said.

A lot has changed within the program since this new coaching staff took their roles and the athletes, especially those who were on the team during previous seasons, are noticing these changes.

Third year Varsity athlete Claire Guarni explains the differences she has been noticing since being coached by a new staff.

“I’m liking it a lot this year because the coaches let us have fun but also take accountability for our actions while cheering,” Guarni said.

Although this change does require some adjusting to, the new coaching staff plan to bring a fresh start to East’s Cheer program.
