Starting now through November 20, Women’s Empowerment Club is holding a fundraiser to collect money to put towards making SANE Kits for sexual assault victims as well as starting a consent campaign throughout East.
After the Events that occurred at Cornell University Easts Women’s Empowerment Club board members felt a call to help victims of sexual assault within our community.
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners or SANE are specially-trained nurses that help reduce re-traumatization of patients and improve the quality of forensic evidence collection, which increases prosecution rates of offenders. SANE Kits are the packages they give to victims right after they come to the facility.
SANE Kits made with donations from people throughout the community will be given to the SANE nurses at Rush Copley.
As an extension of the fundraiser, the Women’s Empowerment Club has started putting posters up around East to bring awareness about consent.
