The Midterm election results are in and it took a lot of people by surprise with the results that came from it. Starting off with the Democrats winning this year’s Midterm elections, but not only did they win they won both the House and the Senate something that would take years to do they did in one election.
The House and the Senate wasn’t the only thing that they flipped this year. They flipped multiple known hardcore Republican states to Democratic ones. Those states would be Texas, North Carolina, Kansas, Maine, Ohio, Iowa, Georgia and South Carolina.
Let’s start off with Texas, the last time that Texas was blue was in 1988 meaning it has been 38 years since it was last blue. This has caused big shock to both political parties since no one expected for Texas to flip.
Another big shock was Kansas, since the last time that it was blue was in 1932. This means the last time that Kanas was blue was in the great depression. It has almost been 100 years since. Then, we have North Carolina.
Another big flip for this midterm election was South Carolina. This was their first time voting blue since 1976, which means they haven’t voted for blue in 50 years. That is groundbreaking for the Democrats.
North Carolina has been known as a red state for a while since the last time they voted blue was for Obama. This means that it’s been since 2008 since they voted blue which is quite a long time.
The others were shocking but not as big as Texas, Kansas, and North & South Carolina. Both parties were very shocked by the state that flipped for this Midterm election. A lot of people have been talking about this online, and other countries are cheering for this change in the US.
This election has made history for the US, by being the first time that a muslim senator, black women, native american women, openly gay man, Latina women, etc have been elected for the House and Senate. This is the first time there has been this much diversity in the election.
This hasn’t been just a win for the Democratic party but seems for a bunch of other countries as well. This Midterm election has made history in just one year. This would normally take years to get here but it happened in just one.
